My 8th Great Grandfather Peter Stephens founded this town in 1732 along with wife Marie. Both are buried in the “Old Graveyard” south of the town. Awesome RV site to visit Sharpsburg, MD site of the Antietam Battle as well as see the history that occurred in Harpers Ferry, WV. The Union Army had positions on this hill prior to being out flanked and captured. Note the cannon in front of the stone building.
